Welcome to Social Psychology
In our ever-changing global society, we are both influenced by the groups we encounter
and conversely we influence those same groups. Social Psychology addresses human
interaction and its consequences. Topics include conformity, aggression, motivation,
group organization, social influences on perception, cognitive processes, and culture’s
impact on social behavior, addressing issues of tolerance within an increasingly diverse
society. Emphasis is on the application of concepts.
In this class we will meet once a month for 3 hours and the rest of our class will be
online. Your lectures, videos, and homework can be found here and on Blackboard.
We will explore Social Psychology from a hands on approach. We will do this by
visiting various locations on the Cape to learn about Human Aggression, Prejudice,
Conflict Resolution, and related topics.
I have created this website as a way, for you the student, to keep in touch with me through the blog, watch videos for classes missed or for extra credit, and also for test study questions.
Along the right side of the page you will notice highlighted links for the Syllabus, videos, homework, and study questions. By clicking on these links you will be directed to everything you need to pass this class with flying colors. You will also see many highlighted words throughout the text - all of these will send you to somewhere on the information highway. As you take your journey, take some notes too.....
I also typically hold 5-6 weekly study groups for my classes on campus. The students tend to enjoy these informal get togethers and it is a way to further indulge your psychological appetite!
Enjoy and Learn!
